Jefferson’s PTA and SSC (School Site Council) are 100% volunteer-based organization run
by the parents and staff at Jefferson. The roles of the PTA and SSC’s are to support the teachers and Principal to help achieve academic excellence. We sponsor many community events throughout the year as well as fundraising activities to enhance our school’s programming.
Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm in the Auditorium. Everyone is encouraged to attend and Chinese translation is provided.
PTA Supports—PTA fundraising supports our library program, field trips, direct classroom funds, graduation, teacher appreciation days, garden program and Winterfest. Our financial goals are reached with key fundraisers throughout the year—the Spell-a-thon, Membership and Funding Drive and Scholastic Book Fair.
ArtWorks is a parent-led art program that teaches parents to do art projects in the classroom. Every December we have Winterfest—a school-wide craft day so children can bring home a homemade gift.
Garden Committee—our expanded Irving Street yard has allowed us to grow our garden and our parent-led garden education, beautification and nutrition program.
Volunteer! Studies show that a child’s academic success is directly related to parental involvement at school. At Jefferson volunteerism is greatly encouraged. You can help in the classroom, go on field trips, become a Room Parent, do translation, join a committee, work
in the garden and more!
